FIRST YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEeeeeeeeerHHH

Really can't see past murray for this one. He's playing well and full of confidence and has the incentive of defending his title to become world number 3.

Its a shame for Ferrer as I really think that he deserves a masters and would love to see him win one, but on this surface and murray's serve working so well this week I just ca't see it.

I hope its a good match and not a one sided affair like their last encounter.

whose not who's

whose is the possessive, who's is a contraction of who is

i would be surprised if ferrer wins a set 2moro 3 staright 3 setters,he will be tired and his ruthless consistancy against murray on hardcourts simply does not work (but on clay it does),overall murray deserves to be no3 looking over the whole year, his wins for the year would be over 65 wins had he played anywhere near his best in rotterdam, indian wells, miami and montreal

feel sorry for ferrer at his very best on claycourts but has to deal with rafa and now djokovic and previous federer,on hardcourts his best slam performences(semi us open 2007,aussie open this year).murray will win 6-4 6-3

hope he goes unbeaten until the end of the year, would set up next year perfectly(novak repeat?)

I'm yet to see a match where Nishikori has been impressive. I stopped watching when the score was 4-0 in the second set.

Gosh is Murray hot when he has no competition. Beating up on guys ranked outside the top 100 or top 50, wow is he amazing. Where was his game in the Australian Open final, or in any of the other three Slam semifinals he lost to Nadal this year, where the results were never in doubt, he never even managed to make it close.

For a player as highly ranked as he is, you've got to credit Murray with some of the most boring Grand Slam play in history. What was the last memorable Grand Slam match Andy Murray played? Somehow I can't remember...

It is rather interesting in fact: Murray had really solid results in Slams this year: one final and 3 semifinals, so one can say he played well and showed great consistency. But none of the matches he played were memorable, earth-shattering, represented upsets, were even beautiful to watch or were memorable in any way.

By contrast, Federer had weaker results in Slams this year, one final, 2 semifinals, and one quarterfinal but three of his matches were actually rather remarkable and memorable: the win over Djokovic in Paris, the loss to Djokovic in New York having 2 matchpoints, and even his loss to Tsonga at Wimbledon was something that one cannot forget easily. His performances even when he lost are not forgettable, Murray's are.

maria shut up murray ran into federer in 2 grand slam finals and he was playing brilliant then he came up against djokovic who started the greatest year in history murray came closer to beating him than nadal has oh and by the way he came close against nadal on clay 1 break each set he took the 1st against nadal at wimbledon and won 1 at the us open and i remember murray being 2 sets and 3-0 up against nadal when he retired "injured" because he knew he was away to get bagled and he beat wawrinka top 20 nishikori is in the top 50 and he beat nadal last sunday hes world number 2 considering he beat nadal with a bagel in the 3rd set with rafa winning 4 points he has been playing well he also beat ferrer in the semis and will do so again tomorrow so be quiet

Hey Ryan,

Murray was playing brilliant in the Slam finals with Federer??? How many sets did he win?

With Djokovic this year: well maybe Djokovic got started on his successful year because Murray offered as much competition in that AO final as I would have offered. How about you view it like this? Murray is Djokovic's direct peer and he failed to put any pressure on Djokovic, he played terrible and lost almost all sets by two-break margins. Not even one set was competitive!

In his encounters with Nadal this year Murray was not routed, it's true, as he managed to win a couple of sets overall, and made some sets competitive, but he was never close. Federer was close to winning in his US Open semifinal loss to Djokovic, for example, in case you don't know the meaning of the word "close".

Good win by Andy. Hope he repeats tomorrow.

Maria has an axe to grind....I like Murray. He's a talented, capable player with a varied game. His personality might be a bit of an acquired taste, but the world would be boring if all the players were as square as Roger ;).

I think Murray will win a slam at some point. It's just timing.

well,Andy has a hidden talent who is coming to the fore now!!give him a break!!he is going to 2win a grand slam soon !

Wow... Ferrer has stunningly gorgeous green eyes.

Murray routed Ferrer last week - and really Andy Roddick should have won their match but he played so passively. Murray has really stepped up with the right balance of offense and defense.

Murray might still be lacking some weapons to win a slam but he is on the right track. Up until a couple of years ago he made hard work beating players outside the top 50 thus tiring himself before reaching the big guns. Now he is playing like a top player, disgarding "low" ranked players quickly, thus keeping more reserves for when it matters.
I think his result at the ATP finals in London will tell if he is ready for a Major next year. Does he finally develop a couple of weapons in his game to dictate and win against the top 8 in the world? Could make for some fun tennis if he does.

that JAP is trying to play like the phoney #1 on the WTA but it only work for a few games because the ATP is where the real pros play not like the women who should pay tto play.

Go get it Murray!
future number 3 ATP !!

"but the world would be boring if all the players were as square as Roger ;)."

HA! That gave me a good laugh.

Murray draws about as much attention to a room as I do.

Something tells me that all of the Djokovic, Nadal and Murray fans will indirectly miss Roger when he retires. Will their men's semi final and final wins in grand slams be even remotely as significant when they beat, say, Ferrer or Soderling? I think not.

As a Fed fan, I really do hope that Murray takes the number 3 ranking and Roger becomes #4. I'd much rather see Roger face Nadal in grand slam semi finals than Novak who can't lose right now. Plus, it'll just confirm how far below Murray is from the top 3 guys.

Matt: Roger can't beat Rafa so I don't know what's so desirable about that match up for some Federer fans. At least against Djokovic he has a better chance of winning and the matches are more competitive.

wilson,

of course Rafa was going to win on clay, but if we look back at Roger's last win over Nadal it was less than 11 months ago and they've only played 3 times during those months.

Maria if you dont like a particular player dont make a point of posting on their racket reactions it comes across as pathetic.

Memorable Murray matches this year: escaping from two sets down against robin haase in New York. The final against Nadal last week.

In general: Atp final round robin stage win over federer. 2 sets and a break down win over gasquet - wimbledon. I cant remember loads but I know there are more.

Murray has had an amazing year full stop. No if and or buts.

great point jason maybe she will remember this French Open 2011 2 sets down to victor troicki got it bk to 2 sets all 5-2,30-0 down in the final set and he still won

Be honest, it is probably more fun to watch Sampras Mcenroe play now than Murray Ferrer. I guess in a few years we will have Nadal and Federer in the lineup...The mens' game is dull...there ought to be more talent ibn the world of mens tennis but there just isnt...when djokovic finally falls apart physically murray may find himself number one...that is how much a piece of crap mensd tennis is.

Matt: Miami was on HC and Rafa won, his victories over Roger are not exclusively on clay.

I think it´s finaly time for one of the Grand Slams to be played indoor on a fast to semi-fast surface and with a LOW BOUNCE! There are sooooooo many players that are in a gigantious and unfair disadvantage because they have played most of their upbringing indoors because of the climate!

Why should all the Grand Slams be played outdoors with its slow surface and very high bounce??!! It benefits some players (read: all the claycourters etc.)in a really UNFAIR way! Indoor-tennis, with its perfect conditions (no wind, no sun, fair temprature provides the best tennis (because of its perfect conditions.

I remember last years semifinal-match (Paris Masters) between Robin Soderling vs Michael Llodra; one of the best matches of the year (if not the best) becuase of the different styles that clashed. Soderling´s baseline (which 99,9999999% of all the players play) and Llodra with his fantastic net-rushing-attacking-tennis!

So PLEASE, make one of the Grand Slam-tournaments an indoor-event with a fast surface with LOW bounce!!!!!!!!!
